Lefkeda & Kefalonia

 My family went to Kefalonia and Lefkada for 10 days. We loved the stunning beaches and laid-back island vibes. If you have 10 days to spend exploring these Ionian gems, here's what I would recommend.

Day 1: Departure 

• Departure: We took a flight from EWR to London and then another flight directly from London to Kefalonia. We found it to be cheaper and quicker than flying into Athens. 

Day 2: Arrival in Kefalonia

• Rental Car: Pick up your rental car from Kefalonia Airport, you will need a car to explore the island! 
• Hotels: : Arrive at The Twelve Suites Collection 

Day 2-6: Kefalonia Exploration

• Beaches:
  • Myrtos Beach: (38 mins from Argostoli) Enjoy the iconic views and crystal-clear waters.
  • Asos/Fiskardo: Drive to Asos for lunch and sunset or Fiskardo for dinner (1hr drive). Explore Foki Beach nearby.
  • Sami/Antisamos Beach: (30 mins from Argostoli) Explore the town of Sami and relax on Antisamos Beach.
  • Lixouri: Take the ferry from Argostoli to Lixouri. Explore the town, and Petani Beach (45 min drive from Argostoli).
  • Platia Ammos and Markis Beach: Enjoy beach bars and water sports near Argostoli.
  • Aigios Thomas and Pessada Beach: (15 min drive) Relax on these picturesque beaches.
• Activities:
  • Ferry to Zakynthos: (Ask at the port for private boat options) Visit Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach and the Blue Caves, you may want to take a private tour here!
  • Argostoli: Explore the town, including Kartavothres.
  • Nightlife: Experience Kefalonia's bars and clubs: Casa Blanca, My Way, Bees Knees.
• Dining:
  • Erasmia (Lixouri): Enjoy a meal right on the beach.
  • Fiskardo: Dinner with a beautiful marina view.

Day 6: Kefalonia to Lefkada

• Morning: Enjoy a final morning in Kefalonia. Visit Fiskardo beach area.
• Ferry: Take the ferry from Fiskardo to Nydri, Lefkada (Book through: https://westferry.gr/ferry-to-kefalonia-booking-inquiry-form/). You can bring your rental car on the ferry! 
• Hotel: Bohemian Lefkada 

Day 6-10: Lefkada Adventures

• Beaches:
  • Pefkoulia, Agios Nikitas, Milos Beach (by boat from Agios Nikitas), Kathisma, Egremni, Porto Katsiki.
• Activities:
  • Agios Nikitas: Explore the charming village.
  • Boat Cruises: Take a daily boat cruise from Nidri to explore the southern side of the island, Meganisi, Onasis island, Ithaca, and Kefalonia.
  • Restaurants:
    • Agios Nikitas: Sapfo.
    • Exanthia: Rachi/Fly Me Cocktail bar.
    • Drimonas: Amente.
    • Lefkada Town: La Vinaria, Thymari, Margarita.
    • Lygia: Kanioria.

Day 10: Return to London

• Drop off Rental Car: Return the rental car at Preveza (PVK) airport.
• Flight: Take a flight from PVK back to London (or to whaever airport is the cheapest)!

Travel Tips:

• Rental Car Essential: A rental car is crucial for exploring both Kefalonia and Lefkada.
• Ferry Bookings: Book ferry tickets in advance, especially during peak season.
• Boat Tours: Utilize boat tours to access secluded beaches and explore the coastline.
